Mid Century Modern Sculpture in Brass, Steel & Aluminum, Manner of Silas Seandle
Mid Century Modern Sculpture in Brass, Steel & Aluminum, Manner of Silas Seandle
This sophisticated Mid Century Modern sculpture- realized in the manner of Silas Seandle- was realized in the United States circa 1970. It consists of a lattice work of rectangular tapered steel forms- resembling oversized nails- adjoined by seamless brass welds. There are three overlapping structures of differing areas, which creates a dynamic sense of depth and movement recalling the work of Op-Art practitioners of the era, such as Bridget Riley. Throughout the composition are undulating rectangular aluminum bands the edges of which offer weld beads that not only serve as sculptural elements of the piece, but also testify to its handmade construction. With its clean geometric lines and austere form composed of contrasting metallic tones, this sophisticated Mid Century Modern sculpture- by one of the era's great design companies- is also incredibly versatile, and would thus be a winning addition to any style of interior. It can be hung vertically or horizontally. Excellent condition.
