Italian Midcentury Chest in Walnut with Stylized Brass Pulls and Vitrolite Top
Italian Midcentury Chest in Walnut with Stylized Brass Pulls and Vitrolite Top
This stunning Mid-Century Modern chest was realized, in the Manner of Gio Ponti, in Italy, circa 1950. It has been handcrafted in burled and hand rubbed book matched walnut, with stylized pulls and a black vitrolite top. No aesthetic detail was overlooked in the construction of this piece. The scalloped sides elegantly extend beyond the perimeter of the body; the legs have been hand whittled into unique muscular tapered three sided forms. With its clean lines and idiosyncratic flourishes, this piece represents Italian Mid-Century Modern design at its finest. It is also as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing. With its six drawers, it offers more than ample storage space for practically any need. It has been restored to mint condition.
