This Mid-Century Modernist Ink & Acrylic Abstracted Painting of Sailboat is by Gino Hollander American, C.1969. This small yet impactful composition features a base layer of expressive acrylic strokes, tumultuous and textured resembling the energetic crash of wind and ocean waves. In slender black lines of ink the skeleton of a sail boat is depicted, enveloped by the blue and white of the foaming waves, the top of the mast emerging from the stormy strokes. A part of the abstract expressionist movement and an early adopter of acrylic paint, Gino Hollander creates expressive and ethereal spaces with incredible energy and presence. A striking piece fitted with a linen floater in a gilt-wood gallery frame. Signed by the artist on the front left. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
