Untitled (Diagonal Composition) - Color-Field Print by Larry Zox
This stunning serigraph, "Untitled" (Diagonal Composition) was realized by the esteemed American color field artist Larry Zox (American, 1936-2006) circa 1965. It features a dynamic composition of overlapping diamond forms in tones of orange sapphire, citrine and black- all bordered by white. Geometric and full of verve, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of first rate modern art, as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite. Its vibrant color palate and clean modernist lines make this piece well suited for any style of interior from classic Mid Century to contemporary. The work is signed "Zox" and numbered "36/100". It comes presented in a custom brushed aluminum gallery frame and is in excellent condition.
Born in Des Moines on May 31, 1937, he studied art with, among other teachers, George Grosz. Zox’s early work was informed by Abstract Expressionism that evolved into the sharp geometrics, imbalances and tensions of his mature canvases. In 1973, the Whitney Museum of American Art recognized his achievements in the field with a solo show of his work. Zox is represented in esteemed private and institutional collections throughout the world including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Tate Modern in London, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
