Mario Avati Nature morte au coquetier 1962
Mario Avati Nature morte au coquetier 1962
This elegant mezzotint print, entitled, "Nature morte au coquetier", was realized by the esteemed artist Mario Avanti in France, 1962. It depicts a stylized rendition of a dove as a target with a target on his chest and smattering of bullet holes through its body. To the right of this abstracted bird target sits an egg in a hourglass shaped egg stand. The enigmatic nature of the composition that invites the viewer to create parallels between iconology that is perhaps related (and perhaps not)- in this case the bird and the egg- as one often does in dream worlds. It is realized in a photorealistic manner testifying to the artist's adroit mastery of his medium. With its monochromatic palate and striking composition, this piece is sure to delight collectors of contemporary art as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It comes presented in a custom ebonized walnut and gilded gallery frame and is in excellent vintage condition. Signed "Avanti" right, titled center and inscribed "28/75" on the right.
