Mid Century Modern Floor Lamp in Brass and Ebonized Walnut by Gerald Thurston
Mid Century Modern Floor Lamp in Brass and Ebonized Walnut by Gerald Thurston
This stunning and sculptural Mid Century Modern floor lamp was realized by the esteemed designer, Gerald Thurston, in the United States circa 1950. It features sculptural brass legs that extend from the ebonized body of the fixture at an angle culminating in rounded feet. The body of the chandelier tapers to its top, where it meets a cylindrical brass neck. The piece has an hourglass form shade in polished brass whose concave top is pierced throughout in circular perforated pairs. With its dramatic presence and clean modernist lines, this piece is one of the most instantly recognizable and coveted examples of Thurston's work. It appears as modern today as when it was made over sixty years ago. It has been newly rewired to American standards and excellent vintage condition.
