Pair of Art Nouveau Silver-Plate Morning Glory Motif Candle Holders
Pair of Art Nouveau Silver-Plate Morning Glory Motif Candle Holders
This stunning and sculptural pair of silver-plate Art Nouveau candleholders were realized in the United States circa 1915. They feature a base composed of swirling curvilinear stylized vines (a leitmotif throughout Art Nouveau design) that support three abstracted morning glory candleholders, which are removable. Additionally, there are striated foliate leaf details embedded throughout. The candleholders are of two different sizes offering a dynamic asymmetry that adds to the compelling nature of their aesthetic. With their flowing lines, classically Nouveau sensibility and clean modernist lines (incredibly forward looking for the time), these candle holders are sure to delight discerning collectors of the period as well as those with a penchant for truly special objects. They would be a winning addition to any style of decor from traditional to contemporary. They are in excellent vintage condition.
