Mid-Century Modern 'Eldorado' Signed George Briard Silver Candlestick Holder
Mid-Century Modern 'Eldorado' Signed George Briard Silver Candlestick Holder
This elegant Mid Century Modern "Eldorado" candlestick was realized by the celebrated studio of George Briard in the United States circa 1960. Realized in lustrous silver plate it features a circular base with an incised starburst pattern- composed of a wealth of striations emanating outwards from the perimeter of the candlestick's body. The cylindrical body of the candlestick ascends to a circular bobeche at its zenith which offers a stepped beveled edge. Two undulating arms extend in either direction from this top circular tier ending in starburst incised bobeches crowned with conical candle holders with banded tops. An elongated thinner embellishment extends from the top of the central body culminating in an open form circle. Additionally, the circular bobeche motif is reiterated at the midpoint of the body. With its clean modernist lines and beautiful attention to detail, by one of the period's great makers, this candlestick holder would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It is in excellent vintage condition.
