This stunningly rendered Sumida Gawa Pottery Vase in Vermillion Red Glaze W/Clustered Sculptural Primates originates from Japan, Circa 1890. Features a vermillion red glaze with a vibrant effect as the base color, with more thickly swirled black and white glazed detailing emerging from the neck of the vase. The overall form is rounded and flattened with a narrow neck and base, applied with numerous sculptural monkeys dressed in various outfits and crawling in frenzied groups towards a white glazed moon, or a carrot on the reverse side of the vase.
