Mid-Century Primitivist Marble Vase with Relief Carved Geometric Detailing in Marble
Mid-Century Primitivist Marble Vase with Relief Carved Geometric Detailing in Marble
This sophisticated Mid Century Modern primitivist vase was realized in France circa 1950. It features a cylindrical body that tapers towards the top with a flared mouth that cantilevers over the body of the piece- in a beautiful white exotic marble. The surface of the vase has been hand-carved in relief with a wealth of geometric motifs including stylized celtic knots bookended on top and bottom by deconstructed Greek key motifs. Additionally, there is an arched form with an open circle approaching the top of this piece. With its clean modernist lines, monochromatic palate, and patently (and beautifully) hand crafted aesthetic, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century to contemporary. While it is a perfectly functional vase, ideal for storing flowers, it is also an objet d'art in its own right. It is in excellent vintage condition.
