Modernist Curvilinear Sculpture in Brushed Aluminum w/ Onyx Base Signed Curtis J
Modernist Curvilinear Sculpture in Brushed Aluminum w/ Onyx Base Signed Curtis J
This sophisticated brushed aluminum modernist sculpture was realized in the United States in 1979. Created by an unheralded, but masterful artist, and signed Curtis J, the piece suggests a deconstructed Kandinsky painting rendered in three dimensional aluminum. The piece offers flowing, contorting, and curling bands of aluminum punctuated by rods (in the same material) that appear to weightlessly float in this symphony of forms. The sculpture offers beautiful juxtaposition of substance and weightlessness; curvilinear, flowing forms and rigid geometric ones, collectively creating a composition full of verve and élan. The piece is presented on a custom cubic onyx base, and comes with a cylindrical aluminum pedestal (that compliments the piece perfectly). It is signed and dated by the artist, and is in excellent vintage condition.
