This beautiful modernist "leaf" wall sconce was handblown in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for its superlative glass production for centuries- during the latter half of the 20th century. It features an elongated ovoid teardrop form body in translucent Murano glass with diagonal ribs suggesting the leaf's veins intersected by horizontal channel detailing representative of the venules in the leaf's margins. The vein is secured to the wall via an orbital body in oil rubbed bronze- providing a beautiful tonal and material counterpoint to ethereal quality of the Murano glass. With its monochromatic color palate, beautiful glass quality, and impeccable construction, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition.
