Handblown Murano Smoked Glass Polyhedral Sconces with Antique Brass Fittings
Handblown Murano Smoked Glass Polyhedral Sconces with Antique Brass Fittings
This refined pair of glass polyhedral sconces were handblown in Murano, Italy- the islands off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for their superlative glass production. They feature five rows of polyhedral shades in a sultry smoked translucent glass of staggered lengths, as well as a row on either side, shielding the bulbs within from sight. The central row is framed on either side by a pair of polyhedrals flush against the wall. At the top of the sconces, brass arms are visible as they ascend at an angle before veering off at a right angle where they meet the upper tier of shades, offering a subtle tonal contrast. These sconces with polyhedrals realized in the manner of Venini have been made in the same manner since the 1960s. They are thus as versatile as they are aesthetically pleasing blending perfectly with any style of decor from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. They have been newly rewired to American standards and are in excellent condition. The sconces accommodate three candelabra based bulbs, providing up to 180 watts of light each.
