Antique Orientalist Rug with Floral Motifs in Bone and Blue Tones
Antique Orientalist Rug with Floral Motifs in Bone and Blue Tones
About
This graphic and sophisticated Ming rug was realized in China, circa 1880. Presented against a black background, the circular rug presents sprigs of cherry blossoms resting in a vase, as well as a pagoda style incense holder with claw style feet resting on a muted blue and bone hued stand. Wisps of stylized smoke in tones of sky and chambray blue emanate from the top of the pagoda incense holder, offering an abstract counterpoint to the figurative orientalist motifs. With its graphic forms and soothing palate, this rug would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditionally inspired to contemporary. Condition commensurate with age and use.
