Mid-Century Modernist Mirrored Pedestal with Alternating Vitrolite Strips
Mid-Century Modernist Mirrored Pedestal with Alternating Vitrolite Strips
This stunning and sophisticated Mid-Century Modern pedestal was realized in the United States circa 1970. It offers a rectangular volumetric body composed of mirrored glass segments. Each side offers a larger rectangular mirrored panel with a thin strip of vitrolite off center and finished with another thin strip of plain mirror. The thin strip of vitrolite feels fun and sophisticated simultaneously- somewhere between a Barnett Newman painting and 70s disco. Its monochromatic palate and clean modernist lines make it incredibly versatile as a pedestal for presenting fine art and other objects, or just to be appreciated as a compelling object. It is in excellent vintage condition.
