Mid Century Modern Dimensional Ink on Acetate Stippled Pop Art Mixed Media Work
Mid Century Modern Dimensional Ink on Acetate Stippled Pop Art Mixed Media Work
This refined mid century modern mixed media work was realized in the United States circa 1970. In dialogue with the Op Art movement of the time- popularized by such artists such as Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley- this work offers a feast of optical movement and stimulation, guiding the eyes through a constellation of hand applied ink dots. The work offers an abundance of star-like spherical black forms- sometimes individual and other times in tight clusters- applied to two translucent acetate screens stacked within the frame, allowing the patterning on the deeper screen to emanate through the diaphanous outer one. This creates a composition that is multi dimensional, layered and full of subtle texture and dynamic movement. With its monochromatic palate and masterful handling of the mixed media, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of first rate modern art as well as those with a penchant for unusual and visually arresting objects. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It is in excellent vintage condition and presented in a custom black inked gallery frame.
