Art Deco Bronze Vitrolite Console Table Top & Mirror Set by La Salle Iron Works
Art Deco Bronze Vitrolite Console Table Top & Mirror Set by La Salle Iron Works
This stunning Art Deco table top and mirror set was realized and signed by La Salle Iron Works in the United States circa 1928. This piece embodies the High Style Art Deco sensibility at its finest, and looks as though it could have been plucked straight from the set of "Metropolis" with its feast of iconic Art Deco motifs. The console features a two tier skyscraper style fluted base that ascends into four rectangular vertical supports with banded detailing. Stylized cubist foliate forms (with Mayan influence) occupy the interstices between the supports that curve out into palm frond-like streamlined tendrils that support the vitrolite top. The rectangular mirror has a stepped skyscraper style top with Edgar Brandt style iron work consisting of scalloped streamlined forms; quivering channeled banner forms; and stylized foliate detailing, among other Art Deco leitmotifs. Quite simply, this is a first rate example of High Style Art Deco Design, sure to delight discerning collectors of the period as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. Its clean modernist lines and refined palate ensure that it would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Art Deco to contemporary. It is in excellent vintage condition. Signed La Salle Iron Works.
