Handblown Murano Glass Giogali 'Link' Chandelier by Mangiarotti for Vistosi
Handblown Murano Glass Giogali 'Link' Chandelier by Mangiarotti for Vistosi
This elegant and sophisticated Giogali 'Link' Chandelier was realized by the legendary designer Angelo Mangiarotti for Vistosi, circa 1960. Created in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production- the piece features a graphic silhouette that tapers at top and bottom composed of a wealth of circular chrome tiers of varying diameters, each supporting an abundance of translucent handblown Murano stylized demilune form links. The chandelier attaches to the ceiling via a chrome chain and beveled tiered canopy in the same material. Additionally, the piece boasts finely articulated chrome chain detailing that artfully drapes across the tiered perimeter of the piece connecting two of the tiers, testifying to the fact that no attention to detail and craftsmanship were spared in its meticulous creation. With its idiosyncratic aesthetic (envisioned by one of Italy's great 20th Century designers) and beautiful glass quality, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. The height can be adjusted to suit. The chandelier has 4 Edison based bulbs offering up to 240watts.
