Pair of Modernist Curved Deco Inspired Nickel Andirons, Manner of Karl Springer
Pair of Modernist Curved Deco Inspired Nickel Andirons, Manner of Karl Springer
Handmade by artisans in New York state, this pair of modernist andirons embody the old world craftsmanship and design aesthetic of a bygone era. With their skyscraper style construction, they consist of three polished nickel bands, of which the central one is raised. They gently crest at their apex, giving them an elegant and dynamic form. These andirons suggest modern interpretations of Classic Art Deco designs recalling the work of the celebrated midcentury designer Karl Springer. They are supported by cylindrical blackened iron streamlined arms overlaid with a spiral coil that in relief that wraps the body of each. The arms adjoin the backs of the andirons at a perpendicular angle. With their clean modernist lines and luxurious materials, these andirons would be a winning addition to any style of interior from Classic Art Deco to contemporary. Excellent condition,
