Three-Piece Art Deco Machine Age Cobalt Mirror and Chrome Desk Set by Victor
This sophisticated Art Deco Machine Age desk set was realized by the celebrated American maker, Victor, circa 1930. It features a inkwell/pen holder, a blotter and a clock. The inkwell offers a square body composed of translucent Lucite with a cylindrical depression in the centre intended for storing ink and a cobalt mirrored top with an orbital chrome pull on top and a trapezoid pull in front. It sits on a rectangular cobalt mirrored base with two horizontal depressions perfect for securing pens. The blotter is composed a rectangular body in cobalt mirror with a chrome top and a streamlined bottom. The clock also sits on a cobalt mirrored base with bevelled edges and skyscraper style feet in chrome. The dial reads "Victor" with machine age numbering. While this is a perfectly functional desk set- and thus an especially winning acquisition for any avid writer- it is also sure to delight any discerning collector of the period. This is a great example of the Machine Age's influence on Art Deco in America. It exhibits a wonderfully even patina throughout. The clock is in working order. Excellent vintage condition.
