This stunning modernist chandelier was realized in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production. It features a conical body composed of an abundance of handblown Murano circular shades with opaque centers and translucent surrounds in a rich amethyst hue. The chandelier attaches to the ceiling via a lustrous chrome chain and a conical canopy that formally reiterates the curvilinear forms expressed elsewhere in the chandelier. With its beautiful glass quality- created in the same atelier, using the same time honored craft techniques that have created these stunning shades since the 1950s- and clean modernist lines, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary.
