Pair of Art Deco Amber Gold Marble Dishes with Stylized Gilt Bronze Bases
Pair of Art Deco Amber Gold Marble Dishes with Stylized Gilt Bronze Bases
This exquisite pair of decorative dishes were realized in France at the beginning of the 20th century. They feature circular tops with gently reclined sides and a flat bottom carved from Amber Gold Marble with charcoal veins running throughout. The pieces sit on gilded bronze bases resembling abstracted equine legs, rendered in a style recalling that of Italian Futurist sculpture, especially Umberto Boccioni. These are gorgeous objects that read simultaneously of the period and perenially modern. While they're perfectly utilitarian pieces ideal for storing valuables or any number of smaller objects, they're also gorgeous objet d'art in their own right that would be stunning presented atop any table or etagere. Excellent condition.
