Early 19th Century Louis XV Nine-Arm Rock Crystal and Bronze Sculptural Chandelier
This elegant rock crystal and gilded bronze nine-arm chandelier was realized in France, during the early 19th century. It features a central baluster body carved in rock crystal from which nine sinuously curved gilded bronze arms extend culminating in bobeches with protuberant undulating candleholders sitting in the center. Additionally, the piece offers a faceted pear finial in rock crystal and faceted tear drop prisms hanging from crystal florets throughout. The chandelier attaches to a bronze canopy with ornate acanthus leaf style detailing in relief etched into the surface in a sunburst pattern. The piece supports nine candles and comes with a snuffer for extinguishing the candles. It is in excellent vintage condition.
